– Reviewed music theory for reading notes

– Worked on differentiating whole notes, half notes, and quarters

Advanced Winds 2:55
Today we:
– Learned about ledger lines and counting notes outside the staff
– Worked on Super Mario Bros (measures 1-8)
– Reviewed fingering chart for notes

Beginning Strings I 1:45
Today we:
- Warmed up by playing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” all together- rehearsed and improved challenging measures and aimed to stay together with the tempo
- Played through “Jingle Bells” slowly- everyone is picking up really well!
Beginning Strings II 2:25
Today we:
- Warmed up with the holiday medley from our green books- focused on the first four lines
- Rehearsed “Spring Theme from the Four Seasons”- got more into detail with our our upbow and down bow choices, as well as paying attention to our dynamics and identifying which notes to playing short “staccato” and which notes to play more “Detaché”

– Discussed eighth notes and how to subdivide in music

Today we:
- Became familiar with terms “staff” and “treble clef”
- Reviewed the notes of our first and second fingers on the D string!
- Played through “Mary Had a Little Lamb” and “Karate Chop” from our brown books all together
- Started learning and practicing our 3rd finger G on our D string!

- Began picking up speed and applying dynamics to our piece!

-reviewed/learned our first three notes E,D,C on trumpet and B,A,G on saxophone
-learned hot cross buns using our first 3 notes
-Please practice hot cross buns and review your fingering chart to learn more notes
Beginning Winds 2:20 (clarinet/flute)
Today we:
-reviewed assembly and basic embouchure
-discussed sound production and reviewed our first note concert Bb (C on clarinet)
-started working through our band book (pg 2)
-Please practice that same page from the book and reference your fingering chart for learning new notes
Advanced Winds 2:55
Today we:
-Warmed up on a concert Bb and concert Eb scale
-Worked on the first two pages on the green book
-rehearsed “Morning”, first two lines or so
-Please practice the first two pages of the green book and reference the fingering chart for any unknown notes
Beginning Strings I 1:45
Today we:
* Practiced bowing our D and A strings
* Learned about ‘rests’ and ‘Quarter notes’
* Checkin in with our bowing technique
* Plucked and sang the “Dad Tune” from our brown books
* Played the “Dad Tune” with our bows individually and then all together at the end of class
Beginning Strings II 2:25
Today we:
Checked in with our bowing technique and D major fingerings
* Refreshed on quarter note and eighth note values
* Practiced and played ” Baa Baa Black Sheep” from our yellow books
* Started learning “Marching Along” from sour yellow books, and started thinking about applying techniques such as the use up upbow and downbow for different volume and phrasing effects
* Added crescendos and decrescendos with our pencils and thought about a way to improve the performance of “Marching Along”.. class culminated in us playing together with these things in mind
