Violins 3:00

Today we worked on the following:

  • Always warm up with your D major scale!
    • D-E-F#-G-A-B-C#-D
  • Read songs from pages 8-9
    • “are you sleeping”- try to memorize this song, as we prepare to play it as a round for our Recital!!
    • “musette” would be an excellent second song to play, try to play this while thinking of your D major scale

Pianos 3:30

Today we worked on the following:

  • Page 10, Mary had a little lamb!
    • Try to sing the words that you know while playing
    • This song only uses the notes C-D-E and G
    • Remember to play this song at least once at home before next class!

  • Work on pages 6-7 in our books! 
    • Play quarter notes for 1 count each
    • Hold half notes for 2 counts each!
  • Don’t forget that your thumbs will “Share” the note C

  • G Chord!
    • This is the most challenging chord, but everyone did a great job learning it!
  • Practice Watchin the Waves to smooth the transition to the G chord

  • Make sure to play all of the songs with correct RHYTHM 🙂

    • our current record is 205bpm! Keep practicing to beat this high score!

  • During class, we will try to rehearse these songs so that they sound like one violin. That means playing the correct notes/rhythms, as well as playing “in-tune!” 
  • Watch your bow direction, and always start with a nice “down bow”.

  • Repeat signs- They’re like mini trampolines, but they break after one use.

    • Find two black keys, C is the white key to the left.
  • Lay out your other fingers on all of the white keys to find “A”

    • Left hand holds the neck. Thumb is hidden behind the fingerboard
