What we practiced this week- October 13th
1st Grade Piano 2:45
Beginning Violins 3:15
Advanced Violins 3:45
Kindergarten Piano 2:45
- We learned quarter notes and rests by clapping and saying “Shh” on rests.
- We played C-D-E-F-G on our keyboards.
- We rehearsed as an orchestra and tried to play all at the same time.
- We also learned Hot Cross Buns on the black keys and almost had enough time to use the funny sound effects.
Beginning Piano 3:15
Today we:
- Found out how important it is to play as a group.
- Played a basic song on repeat: (C-D-E-F, G ).
- We numbered off, and did that short song on repeat while listening to each other to try to line up the beats.
- When we play together we have to listen across the room and make sure everything lines up!
Beginning Ukulele 3:45
Today we:
- Practiced changing chords F-C,
- We tried it faster and backwards (C-F),
- we sang/played Yellow Submarine
- we sang/played the Hokey Pokey with C7 (and actually did the hokey pokey while singing and playing),
- we also took a look ahead to the A Minor chord and G chord.
- Finally we sang and played the chorus of Three Little Birds
Beginning Winds 4:15
Today we:
- all learned and played 2 notes- concert D and Eb-
- we tried a long note exercise to see how long they could hold a note for (Devon 13, Lincoln 13, Aeryona 6, Iyan 3.5).
- we discussed some tricks to hold the note even longer and I challenged them to get a few extra seconds by practicing at home.
- we looked at pages 1-3 in the books.

- Learned how to align the headjoint and hold the instrument (flutes)
- Learned how to play the first two notes in the book (Flute D & E flat, Trumpet E & F, Saxophone B & C, Pbone A & B flat)
- Learned how to read whole notes and rests
- Played songs 1 & 2 on page 1 in the book

- Learned to take care of our Ukuleles
- Learned that the teacher needs to Tune them each class
- Discovered the Open Strings
- Learned the C chord on page 6 in our books
- Practiced an advanced technique by plucking the A string and fingering Open-1-2-3-4

- Learned how to put our instruments together
