  • Keep your D concert scale under your fingers:
    • D- Open String
    • E on the D String (one finger down)
    • F# on the D string (two fingers down)
    • G on the D string (three fingers down)
    • A- Open String!
    • B on the A string (one finger down)
    • C# on the A string (two fingers down)
    • D on the A string (three fingers down)
  • Please practice Frolic at home! Remember “Ta-TiTi-TiTi-Ta” as the rhythm

What we practiced this week- November 20th

Beginning Orchestra 3:45

Always remember that Orchestra is a TEAM and we all need to work together! We will try harder each class.

  • We got a bit further in Dreidel and the transitions are making better sense! GREAT JOB!
  • Violins, we reviewed our notes and Dreidel
  • keep working on playing these notes:
    • D- Open String
    • E on the D String (one finger down)
    • F# on the D string (two fingers down)
    • G on the D string (three fingers down)
    • A- Open String!
    • B on the A string (one finger down)
  • We started learning Twinkle Twinkle
  • Hot Cross Buns!
  • Keep working on Dreydl Dreydl! Practice switching between A string and F# (2nd finger D string)
  • We worked really hard to memorize our notes and got some tricky transitions in Dreidel. Great job!
  • Wind players (Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Alto Sax) now know 5 notes!

  • Today we reviewed how to assemble and hold our instruments, as well as make a sound!
  • Violins learned how to play
    • E on the D String (one finger down)
    • F# on the D string (two fingers down)
  • Practice bowing on ALL 4 strings, and these notes for next time! (D-E-F#)
  • Wind players (Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Alto Sax) learned a new note on their instruments
  • Flutes: D, E, and F#
  • Clarinets and Trumpets: E, F#, and G#
  • Saxophone: B, C#, and D#

What we practiced this week- September 18th

Beginning Orchestra 3:45

  • Today we learned how to assemble and hold our instruments, as well as make a sound!
  • Violins learned to play the D string and E string with the bows
  • Practice bowing on ALL 4 strings, see which ones are HIGHER sounding and which are LOWER sounding.
  • Wind players (Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Alto Sax) learned two notes on their instruments
  • Flutes: D and E
  • Clarinets and Trumpets: E and F#
  • Saxophone: B and C#
