    • Watch your bow as it changes strings, make sure it only plays one note 
    • Playing as an orchestra means we all start and end at the same time, and we play the same notes, at the same speed.

    • Started learning our first finger E on the D string

What we practiced this week- October 26th

  • Warmed up with”Let’s Play Catch” from our brown books 
  • Learned and practiced “Dad’s Tune”
  • Started learning our first finger E on the D string
  • Practiced and played together “My first finger E” from our books
  • Learned our first finger B on the A string and  the beginning of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”
  • Some of us started began exploring our 2nd finger F# and 3rd finger G on the D string to get more in depth of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”

What we practiced this week- October 19th

    • Learned our Bow Holds (video below)
    • Resting Position and Playing position (videos below)
    • Learned the Ants Song (video below)
    • We learned the first 2 measures of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, otherwise known as  the Alphabet Song, or Baa Baa Black Sheep.

    In our Brown Books, try to read and play some songs from the first 5 pages! Some notes last longer than others.

What we practiced this week- October 12th

  • Learned how to safely open our cases. Look for the mountain on top!
  • Put our shoulder rest on the violin like a backpack (video below)
  • Extend the Cello endping
  • Resting Position and Playing position (videos below)
  • Used pizzicato (plucking) to play our open strings
  • Played the D-A-D song on the D and A strings (Sorry MOMs the musical alphabet only goes to G, so we can share with dad)
  • Learned how to tighten and use the bow-
    • violins move our elbows up and down to change the string we are playing
    • cellos rotate that elbow like a half moon to change the strings

In our Brown Books, try to read and play some songs from the first 5 pages! Some notes last longer than others.
