Orchestra Program Details
Grades: K-5
Course Description:
Welcome Back to Orchestra!
All levels welcome and no experience required!
Students will be grouped in classes of similar instruments and ages, where they will learn how to play their desired wind, brass, or string instrument. This program is designed to keep music FUN, so students should expect to play many familiar songs throughout the 28+ week program, in addition to learning the fundamentals of rhythm, harmony and traditional note reading.
Smaller group classes will come together as one larger ensemble in the spring, culminating in a final year-end concert!
Instruments
- Kindergarteners and 1st graders may only choose the violin.
- 2nd graders may choose the violin, or ukulele.
- 3rd graders may choose the violin, cello, flute, clarinet, trumpet, pBone mini, or ukulele.
- 4th and 5th graders may choose the violin, cello, flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, trombone, or ukulele.
Schedule
Instruction begins on Mondays in September 2022 and runs through the spring, culminating with a school concert in June, 2023.
Thirty to forty minute small group lessons will be held each Monday after school between 2:30 PM and 5:00 PM. Please keep this general time block free on Mondays until we create the final schedule. This flexibility in scheduling will allow us to create classes best suited for the enrollment.
The final schedule and location of classes will be announced via email after enrollment is complete. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. To aid in your planning, note that beginning classes will be held earlier than intermediate and advanced level classes.
Once the schedule is available, please have your child’s schedule clear for their assigned 30 – 40 minute time block. Students waiting to take a later lesson will be supervised by the ACE Program until their designated class time.
Program costs
A program fee is requested from each participant to cover the entire 28+ week school year spanning September, 2022 through June, 2023. Please register and submit your payment for the program directly through the ACE Plus at school.
*Please stay tuned for more information from WNS about how to register directly through the school and cost.
