Course Description:

Welcome to Orchestra!

All levels are welcome and prior experience is not required!

Are you looking for a fun and engaging way to introduce your child to the world of music? Look no further than our Orchestra program!

No matter your child’s experience level, our program welcomes all students who are interested in learning how to play woodwind, brass, or string instruments. With our small group classes tailored to students’ ages and abilities, they’ll receive personalized attention and instruction from our talented and experienced teachers.

Throughout the 2023-2024 school year program, your child will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of rhythm, harmony, and traditional note reading, all while playing familiar songs that they love. Smaller groups will come together to form a larger ensemble, culminating in an unforgettable year-end concert.

Instruments

1st graders may choose the violin
2nd and 3rd graders may choose the violin, flute, clarinet, or trumpet
4th and 5th graders may choose the violin, flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, or trombone.

Schedule

Violin Classes are offered on Mondays as follows:

Grades 1, 2 & 3: 2:40 PM – 3:20 PM
Grades 4 & 5: 3:20 PM – 4:00 PM

Woodwind and Brass classes are offered on Wednesdays as follows:

Grades 2 & 3: 2:40 PM – 3:20 PM
Grades 4 & 5: 3:20 PM – 4:00 PM

*Instruction begins on October 30th, 2023 and runs through the entire 2023-24 school year, culminating in a Spring Concert in May, 2024!

Once the schedule is available, please have your child’s schedule clear for their assigned 40 minute time block. Students waiting to take a later lesson may opt to go home with parents and then return to school at lesson time. Or, contact the school regarding available campus supervision for students waiting to take their lesson.

Please note that we will be starting during an early dismissal week. For classes on 10/30, 11/1, and 11/6, dismissal time is 12:15 so classes will start earlier at 12:45PM on these days. The exact schedule will be confirmed closer to the start of classes.

All after-school music classes will take place in the “Atrium”.

Program costs

A program fee is requested from each participant to cover the entire 27+ week school year spanning October, 2023 through May, 2024.

Participants can pay for the entire year in two ways:

one discounted payment of $695 – due with registration
two payments of $375 each – first payment due now, second payment automatically charged on December 1st

The program fee covers instructional costs, as well as all music, books and basic supplies given to your child throughout the year.

Interactive video- get extra help by submitting a video for feedback from one of our teachers!

The only other expense will be the rental or purchase of the instrument (see below).

Private Lessons - Optional

Enhance Your Child’s Musical Journey with Personalized Private Lessons!

Our group lessons alone will provide your student with a sufficient amount of instruction throughout the school year to become proficient at their chosen instrument, as well as provide an enriching musical experience.

Designed to complement our group sessions, these optional private lessons offer tailored guidance which caters to individual aspirations and accelerates progress.

Duration: Ongoing – Charged automatically as your pre-paid lesson blocks are completed.

Private Lesson Fee:

Block of FOUR, 30-minute lessons : $192 – scheduled directly with your teacher on a weekly basis
Block of TWO, 30-minute lessons : $96 – scheduled directly with your teacher every other week

Getting your instrument

Discounted rental and purchase prices have been arranged for participating music students through our official instrument supplier. All prices from our supplier include FREE DELIVERY to school at the first lesson and pick up at the end of the program following the year-end concert. Visit The Instrument Place to place your order.

Saint Brendan Orchestra Classes*
Our ensembles at Saint Brendan are designed to offer a balance of technique and musical development in the first school session with a performance focus in the second school session. Students enrolled in both sessions are invited to perform at our Spring Orchestra Concert! *One payment of $595 covers the entire school year! (Only in September) *One payment of $350 covers only the first session!

I hereby enroll my child in the school instrumental music program. Learning an instrument is a commitment in which I will support by encouraging my child to attend each week and establishing a regular practice routine at home. I understand that there are no refunds after the third week of class or if a class is cancelled due to circumstances beyond The Orchestra Place's control. A minimum number of students is required to hold a class and if a particular class is cancelled due to low enrollment, the student will be issued a full refund.

I understand that regular attendance is very important and that three or more unexcused absences may result in my child being dropped from the program.

I also hereby recognize the importance of having a good, quality, working instrument and understand that my child must have an instrument brand name listed on the approved brands list in order to participate. Inferior quality instruments are not acceptable for use in the music program.

I also hereby grant to The Orchestra Place, its sponsors, organizers, and/or assigns The Orchestra Place the irrevocable and unrestricted right to use and publish photographs (including video photography and performance) of my child, or in which my child may be included, for publication, electronic reproductions (websites) and/or promotional materials or any other purpose and in any manner or medium. In addition, I grant my permission to alter the same without restriction; and to copyright the same. I hereby release the photographer and The Orchestra Place from all claims and liability relating to said photographs.

We will comply with State, Local, and CDC guidelines on masking, social distancing, and follow directives from the school regarding our ability to hold in person classes. If the host school limits The Orchestra Place's ability to provide on campus instruction, we will automatically continue with classes, as scheduled, via online Zoom instruction.
