2023 Spring Semester
Orchestra Program Details
Welcome back to Orchestra – Violin Ensemble!
All levels welcome and no experience required!
Students will be grouped in violin classes of similar ages and skill level. This program is designed to keep music FUN, so students should expect to play many familiar songs throughout the 15+ week program, in addition to learning the fundamentals of rhythm, harmony and traditional note reading.
Smaller group classes will come together as one larger ensemble in the spring, culminating with a final year-end recital!
- 3rd, 4th and 5th graders may choose the violin. (We plan to expand to more instrument options this fall!)
Instruction begins on Thursday, February 16th, 2023 and runs through the spring, culminating in a school concert on Thursday, June 1st, 2023.
Thirty minute small group lessons will be held each Thursday after school between 2:30 PM and 5:00 PM. Please keep this general time block free on Thursdays until we create the final schedule. This flexibility in scheduling will allow us to create classes best suited for enrollment.
The final schedule and location of classes will be announced via email after enrollment is complete. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. To aid in your planning, note that classes for younger, beginning students will be held earlier than older, intermediate level classes.
Once the schedule is available, please have your child’s schedule clear for their assigned 30 minute time block. Students scheduled in later classes should contact the school regarding available campus supervision for students waiting to take their lesson.
There is no program fee required to participate but space is limited. Funding for instruction is provided by generous grants and donations. Donations are gratefully appreciated and can be made out to the “Calvert Charter For Enriched Studies”.
*Violins will be provided by the school for use during class. If a student wishes to practice at home throughout the week, individual violins can be rented directly by students for home practice through our instrument supplier ‘The Instrument Place’ (see below).
All music, books and basic supplies will be provided to your child throughout the semester.
The following additional resources are also included with the program:
- Class Portal Page- weekly class recaps, practice suggestions, sheet music downloads, helpful video tutorials, and much more!
- Interactive video- get extra help by submitting a video for feedback from one of our teachers!

The lessons are scheduled at mutually convenient times with one of our professional instructors. Private lessons are charged on a recurring basis, once the number of lessons in your block have been completed.
Duration: Ongoing – Charged automatically as your pre-paid lesson blocks are completed.
Private Lesson Fee:
