Calvert Charter for Enriched Studies

2023 Spring Semester

Orchestra Program Details

Grades: 3-5

Course Description:

Welcome back to Orchestra – Ukulele Ensemble!

All levels welcome and no experience required!

Students will be grouped in Ukulele classes of similar ages and skill level. This program is designed to keep music FUN, so students should expect to play some familiar songs throughout the 5 week program, in addition to learning the fundamentals of rhythm, harmony and traditional note reading.

Smaller group classes will come together as one larger ensemble in the spring, culminating with a final year-end recital!

Instruments

  • 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders may choose the ukulele. (We plan to expand to more instrument options this fall!)

Schedule

Instruction begins on Thursday, May 18th, 2023 and runs through the spring, culminating in a school concert on Tuesday, June 6th, 2023.

Thirty minute small group lessons will be held each Thursday after school between 2:30 PM and 5:00 PM. Please keep this general time block free on Thursdays until we create the final schedule. This flexibility in scheduling will allow us to create classes best suited for enrollment.

The final schedule and location of classes will be announced via email after enrollment is complete. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. To aid in your planning, note that classes for younger, beginning students will be held earlier than older, intermediate level classes.

Once the schedule is available, please have your child’s schedule clear for their assigned 30 minute time block. Students scheduled in later classes should contact the school regarding available campus supervision for students waiting to take their lesson.

Program costs

There is no program fee required to participate but space is limited. Funding for instruction is provided by generous grants and donations. Donations are gratefully appreciated and can be made out to the “Calvert Charter For Enriched Studies”.
