  2. Practice Mary Had A Little Lamb on the white keys!

  2. Practice playing Open String (0), Finger 1, then Finger 2 on the A string
    • Watch how you hold your bow
    • Long notes with nice sound (don’t squeeze or press the bow too hard)

    • Focus on the last part for this week, where both hands are playing one after another

  2. Practice all strings, focusing on the biggest string and the one next to it
  • Bow the string while counting “1 2 3 4,” and every time you get back to “1,” change the direction of the bow
  • Make sure not to pull or push the bow too quickly that you run out of space to move it

Remember the High notes, Middle notes, and Low notes
Finger 4 on High, Finger 3 on Middle, Finger 2 on Low
With your right hand, use fingers 2, 3, and 4 and place them on a group of 3 black keys, with each finger having its own key. Try and repeat any rhythms or beats that you can hear around you.
Sing “Old MacDonald had a farm…” and play “EIEIO” on the piano (4 4 3 3 2)
Make sure your singing and playing are at the same speed!

Spencer:

Practice holding your notes out as long as you can without wavering
Remember and practice the 5 notes that we learnt:
F, G, A, B, C (focus on F)
RH fingers (excluding pinky) don’t press for now, but keep them on the keys as a good habit
Music notes move alphabetically, and reset after G

 


Eddy:

Practice the C and G chords, remember the positions, and practice changing between them
Remember the fret numbers for the frets with the inlays (dots)
Practice the C, F, G, and A- (“-“ in a chord symbol means minor) chords
Remember their positions (if you forget, you can google “ukulele chord chart”)
Choose two chords, and do the exercise we discussed (play each chord 8 times, then 4, then 2, then 1 – make sure changing chords are smooth and don’t stop the tempo)


Emmett:

Practice holding your notes out as long as you can without wavering
Remember and practice the 4 notes that we learnt:
G, A, B, C
Keep your RH thumb under the hook, and push the saxophone away from you with that hand instead of lifting it up, and make sure your palm isn’t pressing any side keys
Keep the LH thumb on the black platform, with just enough of the thumb sticking out to press the button close to it
Your mouth should only be taking in half of the mouthpiece, not the full thing
Add the high D, E, and F to the list, and practice going from low G to high G and back down

Remember the High notes, Middle notes, and Low notes
Finger 4 on High, Finger 3 on Middle, Finger 2 on Low
Sing the song Mary Had A Little Lamb, and find out which notes are supposed to be High, Middle, or Low
With your right hand, use fingers 2, 3, and 4 and place them on a group of 3 black keys, with each finger having its own key. Try and repeat any rhythms or beats that you can hear around you.

Remember and practice the 4 notes that we learnt:
G, A, B, C
RH fingers (excluding pinky) don’t press for now, but keep them on the keys as a good habit
Music notes move alphabetically, and reset after G


Eddy:
Practice the C and G chords, remember the positions, and practice changing between them
Remember the fret numbers for the frets with the inlays (dots)
Practice the C, F, G, and A- (“-“ in a chord symbol means minor) chords
Remember their positions (if you forget, you can google “ukulele chord chart”)
Practice switching between those chords quickly and cleanly

Emmett:
Practice holding your notes out as long as you can without wavering

Keep your RH thumb under the hook, and push the saxophone away from you with that hand instead of lifting it up, and make sure your palm isn’t pressing any side keys
Keep the LH thumb on the black platform, with just enough of the thumb sticking out to press the button close to it
Your mouth should only be taking in half of the mouthpiece, not the full thing
